Cytotam is a nonsteroidal anti-estrogen medication that contains Tamoxifen Citrate, primarily used as an anti-cancer drug. Tamoxifen Citrate inhibits the physiological effects of the female estrogen hormone, which contributes to the progression of breast cancer. Cytotam is prescribed for both women and men with estrogen-dependent breast tumors as an oral treatment. Additionally, it is advised for women at increased risk of breast cancer to significantly reduce their likelihood of developing the disease. Cytotam is also recommended post-surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy as a preventative measure against the metastasis of cancer cells and to decrease the chances of tumor recurrence.
It is important to take Cytotam precisely as instructed by your physician. Your dosage may vary based on whether Cytotam is being used for treatment or prevention of breast cancer, the cancer's stage, your body weight, other health conditions, and any medications you are currently taking. Tamoxifen Citrate should be taken once or twice a day with water, preferably after meals to reduce the risk of indigestion. It’s advisable to keep a consistent schedule by taking Cytotam tablets at the same time each day to maximize the medication's effectiveness. Typically, a daily dosage of one Cytotam tablet after a meal is recommended by physicians.
If you forget a dose of Cytotam, take it as soon as you recall. You can then resume your usual schedule the following day. If you remember the missed dose on the next day, simply take your regular dose and skip the missed one. Avoid taking a double dose to make up for the one you missed.
